Well, the ‘Mud’ puppy is still muddy coloured (lol), but he is beginning to mature and stand out a bit more.  Here is a lovely photo by Heather Bashow of Deerhave Photophraphy, showing the ‘airplane’ ears wolfhound puppies quite often display.  In the photograph just below he is playing/running with his Aunt Olivia and her daughter Arwen.  Smart boy, he is staying well back from the two older girls (lol).

Welcome and please meet my MacTire, pictured here at just over 8 weeks of age.  I have to admit, my wee MacTire looks a bit, ‘muddy’, lol.  What made me choose him over his brother, Merlin for my stud fee puppy was this boy’s incredible movement.  At just over 8 weeks of age this puppy’s movement was not only correct but he was a more powerful mover at this time than his brother.  His movement showed the grace and power that I’ve always loved.  His nick name became ‘Mud Puppy’, which he quickly outgrew, lol.  I can honestly say, I have never regretted my decision to choose this boy and he has gone on to sire some really amazing offspring!

and so, time has passed and the ‘Mud Puppy’ is......well not turning into a swan, but beginning to show some of that promise I glimpsed not so long ago (lol).  He is physically a combination of his mother and father, with a personality much like his father, Olcan.  This is exactly what I was looking for!

These next two photos are of MacTire running with his father Olcan (on the far left), who is over 7 years of age in these photographs.  In the middle is my Arwen.  These guys love to run and Olcan kept right up with them!  Way to go old fella!

Playing with Arwen.  She has no trouble holding her own....lol...at this time!

This poor man Glenn, a show acquaintance of mine kindly helped out with a couple of my dogs and other people as well, at our IWCC Quebec Regional Specialty in 2016.  The slight frown you see on Glenn’s face  is because MacTire is trying to run away a bit towards me.  I am ahead of them and not shown here, but I am showing Mac’s litter brother Merlin.  Merlin’s owner was looking very anxious and nervous and this was both the dogs’ first show.  I was suppose to handle my own boy, but Glenn kindly agreed to do so for me, so I could help Merlin’s owner Juliana out.  Unfortunately, I made showing Mac so much harder for Glenn as Mac kept trying to catch up to momma, lol.  Unsurprisingly, Merlin ended up with me taking first in the Group of 12 to 18 month old males and MacTire with Glenn took second.  Considering the problem I caused for Glenn and Mac I am proud of this placement and it will not happen again!!! Sorry Glenn (lol).

Here is a good photo of Merlin with Julianna, one of his owners and his brother MacTire bringing up the rear.  They are actually following myself and their father Olcan.  We were competing for Best Stud Dog in Show and we WON!

So, MacTire and Glenn took second place in the 12 to 18 month old class under Judge Mrs. Csilla Juhash of Glor Na Gael Kennel in Hungary.  My poor fella, (lol), seems the hard work has worn him out.  So proud of him!

Still in the month of June 2016, Mac and a friend Kim are getting to know each other better (lol), while I was occupied in a show ring with my Arwen.  I don’t think Mac likes being held on such a tight lead, but poor Kim was nervous of him getting away.

Here we are in July at the Kingston and District All Breed Show.  Glenn is once again handling and I am taking a break.  Mac is a lot like his father, my Olcan and is showing the tendency of being a momma’s boy, hence the handoff, lol.  This way I will hopefully avoid that problem, lol.  On this day MacTire took Best of Breed beating the No. 2 wolfhound in Canada!  Way to go you guys.

Even if not a breeder you will notice the progression in this young male’s conformation (build) as he matures from those earlier photos.  He was just 19 months when he won this day!

In August 2016 MacTire took Best of Winners!  He moved well in spite of the heat and I was so proud of him!  With limited showing my MacTire has become a new Canadian Champion!  Thank you Glenn for your help with this young male.

This is Mac’s official winning show photo of his  new Canadian Championship status at less than 2 years of age!

We missed his last show in October 2016 due to car troubles but the best is yet to come in 2017.  As I breed and show more I tend to favour my wolfhounds being photographed in more natural setting and hope to have more candids soon, so stay tuned for further update!

Introducing again my Olcan on the left and MacTire his son on the right in February of 2017.  This is an absolutely beautiful photo taken by Heather Bashow of Deerhaven Photography, a friend and wolfhound lover.  This is what I mean about candids.  You don’t get photos like this in a show ring, lol.

Just a casual photo of Mac and Jurgen Mack with a Select Winner’s ribbon.  It is Mac’s first points towards his Grandchampionship!  Way to go guys!

I would also like to thank Tatiana Adams a fellow friend and dog lover, who owns, breeds and shows her Black Russian Terriers.  It was she who was kind enough to get all these photos of Mac and Jurgen.

Here we are with Jurgen Mack wanting to show MacTire at the S D & G All Breed Dog show in Long Sault in late August 2017.  As you can see not only is Jurgen Beginning to form a bond with MacTire but Mac is feeling better about someone besides me handling him!  Jurgen did a great job at this show!

Jurgen who with his wife Suzanne own one of my puppies, Luna dropped in one day for a quick visit and he agreed to help me to get a photo of MacTire after I had him almost stripped for summer showing.  Lordy Mac, you look so good.  Thank you Jurgen!

We have started the show season a bit late because frankly all my dogs at this time are Champions and currently I am just showing to throw on the title of Grand Champion in order to keep my and my dogs’ paws in (lol).  Keeps the dogs training up to date as well.  MacTire pictured here is just 3 years of age now.

So, this day in May of 2018 we have come to the Queon Lure Coursing Association Specialty and the Hochelaga Kennel Club’s All Breed Show in Saint-Lazare, Quebec.

MacTire did extremely well taking Select Dog under Judge Pamela Bruce in the Specialty and Judge Francois Bernier in the Hochelaga All Breed Show.  He was up against some really quality Irish Wolfhound males, including a male I bred who is owned by my friend Cathy Charles, Kaldaun’s Aengus Na Tirnanog (aka Aengus), who took breed in each of the shows.  Thank you judges for recognizing the quality of these males!

PS.  I showed him myself, lol!

Here we are at the IWCC Quebec Regional Specialty Show in September 2018.  Jurgen kindly offered to show MacTire as I also wanted to show Arwen and I was also showing my Olivia (Livie).  Thanks again Jurgen you and MacTire did so well and in fact it came down to MacTire or my other male Aengus for the best male in the show.  Aengus won out but it was close, lol.  It makes me very proud to know when my breeding program in going in the right direction.
